Accounting/Human Resources Assistant

Tom Kraemer, Inc. has an immediate opening for a full-time Accounting/Human Resources Assistant at our corporate location in Cold Spring, MN. Tom Kraemer Inc. has been a family owned company since 1938 and continues to provide employees with a positive, fun, success-driven work environment.

This position will support the overall day-to-day accounting functions of the organization focusing primarily on processing accounts payable and receivable records. Additionally, this position will also assist human resources functions including payroll and employee benefits administration.

This is a Mon-Fri position; no weekends required.  Paid holidays, paid vacation, health, dental, vision, and long-term disability insurances, and a 401K retirement plan with an employer match are some of the many benefits.

Accounting Duties Include:

  • Compiles, processes and maintains accounts payable and receivable records
  • Verifies approval on all AP invoices and check requests, and enters bills for payment processing
  • Audits and verifies expense reports, bills, and credit card statements
  • Monitors AR aging and customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
  • Communicates with customers and vendors via phone, email and mail
  • Assists in the collection and preparation of data used in various spreadsheets and reports
  • Investigates and resolves customer and vendor inquiries and discrepancies
  • Generates and processes client bills utilizing extreme attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Codes AP invoices and AR entries to proper ledger accounts and classes
  • Follows established procedures for processing receipts, credit cards, cash etc.
  • Prepares and processes payments according to appropriate business schedules
  • Updates and maintains vendor and client databases
  • Reconciles vendor and client account balances. Researches and resolves discrepancies and issues

HR Duties Include:

  • Assists with the administration of employee benefits, by enrolling or terminating participants as needed.
  • Administers employee changes, including onboarding and offboarding details for payroll and benefits.
  • Reconciled vendor invoices and statements to match actual participant enrollments.
  • Assists in the processing of bi-weekly payroll, including verifying timesheets, generating payroll, generating journal entries for financial reporting, and processing retirement plan funding.
