Full Time Local CDL Truck Driver, Class A

Shipping Container Buyer – Full Time

Tom Kraemer Inc. (TKI) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shipping Container Buyer to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing container procurement, inventory management, logistics coordination, and supporting sales for both TKI and Super Cubes USA. The ideal candidate will excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring seamless operations. This position requires proficiency in Excel, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Container Procurement, Market Analysis & Inventory Management

  • Procure a range of shipping containers, including large bulk orders (3-6 per year) and smaller daily purchases (1,000+ units annually).
  • Negotiate favorable pricing with suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends and sales data to predict container availability and pricing, making data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Work closely with depots to track container releases, in-gate reports, inventory status, and timely deliveries.
  • Confirm and reconcile all containers in-gates and approve invoices for payment.
  • Send in-gate reports to vendors as needed.
  • Conduct physical inspections of containers and assist in grading them by condition for quality control.
  • Spend time in the yard organizing and managing container inventory.
  • Provide weekly updates on container inventory, identifying any potential shortages or surpluses based on sales forecasts and current inventory.
  • Set weekly pricing for various markets.

Operations, Logistics & Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for container deliveries, including  third-party and in-house trucking to shuttle containers to appropriate yards, such as moving containers purchased from Chicago to Minneapolis or other sites.
  • Oversee container releases and transportation arrangements to meet operational needs and deadlines.
  • Work closely with vendors and internal teams to resolve logistical issues and ensure containers are delivered on time and in the correct condition.
  • Coordinate with sales, purchasing, and operations teams to streamline container movement and inventory management.

Sales Support & Customer Interaction

  • Assist in container sales by supporting customer inquiries, walk-in sales, and overflow sales calls.
  • Provide support to the sales team, including finding specialty containers, analyzing market trends, offering costing insights, and handling special projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and vendors, serving as a container expert.
  • Provide coverage and sales assistance in branch locations as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain container inventory in the yard, ensuring proper storage and performing minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Assist with forklift operations and other yard tasks (forklift experience is a plus).
  • Contribute to special projects such as container modifications, organizing container layouts, and improving yard operations.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in the logistics industry.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms and maintain supplier and customer relationships.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze data, forecast needs, and manage purchasing decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory.
  • Logistics experience, including coordinating transportation movement across multiple locations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support sales efforts and manage customer relationships.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent time management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.

Compensation & Additional Information:

Yard Operator

Tom Kraemer Inc., a family-owned company since 1938, is seeking a full-time Yard Operator for our Glenwood facility. We take pride in providing a positive, safe, and success-driven work environment. This position plays a key role in keeping the transfer station running safely and efficiently, while also supporting overall yard and landfill operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to manage transfer station activities

Production Manager – Welding & Modification Shop (Hands-On Role)

TKI Intermodal, LLC. is a family-owned, award-winning company specializing in container modification. We operate our own container depot and provide innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Our focus is on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, fostering a positive and success-driven work environment.

We are currently seeking a Production Manager to both lead and actively work alongside a team of skilled welders in our modification shop. This role combines hands-on welding and fabrication with day-to-day supervision, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of 6+ full-time welders, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Manage day-to-day operations in the mod shop, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring projects stay on schedule.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, helping to develop their skills and improve performance.
  • Perform welding and modification tasks as needed, including MIG and TIG welding, cutting, and grinding.
  • Oversee safety protocols in the shop, ensuring all team members comply with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including carpentry and painting, to ensure seamless project completion.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and minor repairs as needed to ensure the shop’s tools and machinery are in optimal working condition.
  • Inspect completed modifications to ensure they meet company and client standards.
  • Foster a positive, efficient, and safe work environment for all team members.

Requirements:

  • Required: Minimum 5 years of experience in welding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, including MIG and TIG welding.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
  • Preferred: Experience in carpentry, painting, or other related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized shop.
